For this assignment, I conducted a vulnerability analysis of tornado risk across U.S. counties using historical tornado path data (1950–2021) and mobile home density as a proxy for structural vulnerability. After preprocessing and intersecting tornado paths with county polygons, I normalized tornado incidence per 100 square miles and categorized counties by exposure using mobile home percentages. I then created a 4-tier risk matrix combining hazard and exposure. The final thematic map visualized these composite ranks, revealing spatial concentrations of high-risk areas—especially in the Southeast—where tornado frequency overlaps with vulnerable housing conditions.
